Sisindu T

The house which is some 9000 sq ft in area has extensive living and dining areas, six double bedrooms, large 53ft overall long x 18ft “l” shaped infinity swimming pool, with comfortable loungers and parasols. There are luxuriant tropical gardens with exotic flowers and fruit and it is set at the top of a hill 800 feet above sea level surrounded by a working tea plantation with stunning views to all sides.

The accommodation is laid out as follows:

Living/eating

The open kitchen and dining area covers 45ft x 27f the kitchen takes up half of this space and has a massive island (7ft x 15ft) with bar stools, the dining pavillion off this is open-sided with a 16 seat dining table with views towards the indian ocean.

A cosy seating area is furnished around a huge Javanese coffee table with western-style sofas and chairs which takes up one half of the 40ft x 30ft living room. The other end is partially open to the skies with a large tree growing up through the roof in a rock orchid garden.

To one side of the living area there is a verandah with polished titanium bench sofas surrounded by a fish pond filled with water lilies which looks out to the jungle over the tea plantation. To the other side with views towards the sea there is a terrace with colonial planter’s chairs and another 3 cane sofas for more relaxing and a perfect sunset view. At the far end there are steps up to a 15ft x 25ft roof terrace with views to all sides and another ideal spot for sundown drinks and private sunworshipping

Leading from the main central living space there are steps down to an air-conditioned 25ft x 15ft tv/study room. This has huge lounging sofas with an extensive library of current dvd’s and boxed sets.

Down from there is the master suite comprising a huge semi open-air bath room with two showers, basins, loos and a molded stone bath, featuring the natural rocks and flowering shrubs. The “l” shaped air-conditioned master bedroom has a 20ft x 14ft sitting area with sofa, two armchairs and another tv/dvd. The bedroom itself with 7ft x 6.6ft bed has windows to three sides and doors leading out to a verandah and the swimming pool

Bedroom 1 18ft x 22ft with a 7 x 6ft bed is air-conditioned has polished titanium beds encompassing bedside tables. There is a day bed molded into a natural rock with writing desk. en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room with twin vanitory and loo.

Bedroom 2 18ft x 22ft with a 7 x 6ft four post bed is furnished with Ceylonese antiques and has en-suite 18ft x 7ft shower room, with double vanitory, loo and a refurbished pre-war steel bath tub

Bedroom 3 18ft x 22ft has two adjoining single 4 post beds, well furnished with a comfortable day bed with an en suite shower room, with double vanitory and loo. open air shower

Bedroom 4 13ft x 17ft is upstairs with a 27 x 9ft balcony overlooking the tea and jungle. There are planters chairs and a free standing bath tub on the balcony which offers outstanding views especially as the sun rises above the tea and melts the mist off it. Inside the bedroom there is a 5.5 x 6.5 ft iron framed 4 post double bed with an en-suite shower, double vanitory and loo.

The jungle room 27 x 23ft set in the garden with a verandah. This is a self-contained building which has two polished titanium 6 x 6.5ft double beds with bedside tables, en suite shower room with basin in a vanitory unit room and loo and ensuite massage room. This set-up offers ideal family accommodation.

One by-product of the open air design is that rain does get in, and the lovely looking polished floors when wet are very slippery. Please take great care.
